Fun Wedding Reception Ideas

Five ideas that all your guests will love

Everyone wants their guests to have a great time at their wedding, so we have pulled together a few fun wedding reception ideas that have proved to be favorites among many couples.

Candy Buffet:
Having a candy bar at a wedding is becoming more and more popular, mainly because everyone loves it. You can easily create your own by purchasing small glassine bags, loads of bulk candy in your wedding colors, and displaying everything in beautiful jars and bowls. Put little tags or blackboard chalkboard signs by each candy to tell people what they are.

Chocolate and Wine
:
A few creative souls have put together wedding receptions centered around just chocolate and wine. Use brown as part of your color scheme, lay out a delicious chocolate dessert buffet, and accompany everything with different fine wines. You can even have a chocolate element to all of the food if your caterer is talented.

Picnic at the Beach:
If you are lucky enough to have access to a nice beach, and you prefer a more casual affair, have a picnic-style reception. You can create a food basket for each "table" along with a blanket to sit on and canoes full of ice and drinks. Make sure it is clear on your invitations that the dress is "beach casual" and that there are actual tables and chairs for those that do not want to sit on a blanket.

Travel Around the World:
Love to travel? Bring that passion into your wedding reception by selecting several countries to highlight in both food and decor. A buffet is a perfect set up for a travel theme since you can have food stations that reflect the cuisine of different countries. Give each table a different country name and decorate it accordingly. Wedding favors can include items that fit that country's theme, such as Asian style wedding favors or Irish favors. However, try to make sure the colors do not vary too much from table to table. Having a predominant color scheme will help you pull everything together, even though you have a diverse range of cultures represented.

Invest in Entertainment.
The entertainment you provide at your wedding can make all the difference in creating a fun reception. Aside from a good band or DJ, add some other entertainment that the non-dancers will enjoy. Examples include a roaming magician, belly dancing exhibition, caricature artists and photo booths, or even a fireworks display. With something for everyone, you can rest assured that your guests will all have a fantastic time and have lasting memories of your big day.
