Although you may have been planning your wedding
for months or even years, there are many details that need
to be taken care of in the week prior to your wedding. Each
of these details individually may not seem to be much but
they add up to a tremendous amount of work. It is in the final
week before the wedding that the bride is likely to begin
feeling overwhelmed. She may or may not start asking her friends
and family to help her out at this time. If she does not tell
you directly that she needs help, you are likely to notice
in her tone that she is feeling overwhelmed. Now is an excellent
opportunity for friends and family members to chat with the
bride and let her know that they are still willing to help
her in any way that she needs.
Most caterers will require a final count of the
number of guests who will be attending your wedding in the
week before your wedding day. By this time you will have likely
received the majority of your RSVP cards and may have a very
good idea of how many guests will be attending your wedding.
It is inevitable thought that at least a few guests may have
failed to respond. It is important that you call each of these
guests to find out whether or not they are coming before giving
the final count to the caterer. This will ensure that the
number that you give them is accurate and will keep you from
either paying for too many people or incurring additional
charges because you have more guests at your wedding than
the caterer had planned on serving.
The week before your wedding is also the time
to pack for your honeymoon and confirm any of the travel details
of your honeymoon. If you are planning to leave for your honeymoon
within twenty four hours of your wedding, it is recommended
that you pack well in advance so that you are not either trying
to pack quickly after your wedding or staying up late the
night before your wedding to complete your packing. You will
also want to confirm the details of your wedding during this
time. The items that need to be confirmed may include your
lodging, rental care and any other pre-planned activities.
You should also take some time in the week before
your wedding to confirm the details of your rehearsal dinner.
The rehearsal dinner typically takes place the night before
the wedding so you want to make sure this evening is perfect
plus you don’t want to be burdened with trying to confirm
the details while you are taking care of many other small
details at the same time.
In addition to confirming the details of your
honeymoon and rehearsal dinner, you should also contact each
of the providers that you have hired for your wedding to confirm
the details with them. This may include, but is not limited
to, your makeup artist and hair stylist, your caterer, DJ
or band, limousine service and your photographer.
There are so many last minute details that need
to be attended to in the week before your wedding. It can
be frustrating and you may feel like you have not planned
well because you have so many lingering details but it is
important to remember that many of these details need to be
completed at the last minute. If you have a friend or family
member who has been offering to help you, now is the time
to take them up on their offer and give them a few tasks to
complete.
